ABOUT US
OUR STORY
Our journey began in a small apartment kitchen in Downtown LA.
During COVID-19, we found ourselves missing the simple joy of going out for coffee and drinks. We started making our own beverages using fruit purees we found online, but soon realized many of them contained preservatives and ingredients we did not feel comfortable putting into our bodies.
With growing concerns about health, especially during COVID, we decided to start making our own syrup: Cheong.
As a Korean, making cheong at home brought back memories of childhood. Each season, we would make different fruit cheong and enjoy it together. As we grew older, those moments were replaced by quick trips to cafes, but the warmth of those memories stayed with us.
After trying countless recipes, we finally created one that felt just right, and that is what brought us here today.
WHY THE SCOOP?
Some customers ask us why we chose the name The Scoop. Many even think we are an ice cream shop at first.
As you may already know, our journey began with cheong. We wanted a name that felt more than just literal. Something beyond "The Cheong" or "Spoonful Cheong".
One day, I was listening to a song, and a lyric caught my attention: "a scoop of strawberry."
I could not stop thinking about it.
A scoop of cheong, of sweetness, of something made with care. A scoop that feels like a small but meaningful moment.
And just like that, The Scoop was born.
WHAT IS CHEONG?
Cheong is a traditional Korean fruit syrup made with real fruit and sugar, slowly preserved to bring out deep, natural flavors.
At The Scoop, our cheong is made with no artificial coloring, no additives, and no chemicals - just real ingredients and time.
It can be enjoyed in drinks or as a topping, adding a touch of sweetness to everyday moments.
OUR CHEONG
Strawberry Cheong
Our all-time favorite. Perfect for drinks, and delicious over yogurt, ice cream, or pancakes.
Pineapple Cheong
Bright and refreshing. Great for drinks, cocktails, mocktails, and even pairs beautifully with savory dishes like beef or sausage.
Grapefruit Cheong
Lightly sweet with a hint of bitterness. Try it with milk - it is surprisingly addictive.
Lemon Cheong
Crisp and refreshing. Perfect for drinks, cocktails, mocktails, or as a topping for yogurt.
